3/4 oz Rye Whiskey
3/4 oz Maraschino liqueur
3/4 oz Green Chartreuse
3/4 oz Lemon juice
Garnishes
1 twist Lemon

Preparation
In a shaker, combine the rye whiskey, lemon juice, maraschino liqueur, and green Chartreuse. Shake well and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Description
The Final Ward is a unique twist on the classic Sour cocktail, mostly the Last Word as it is an equal parts cocktail. The combination of rye whiskey, lemon juice, maraschino liqueur, and absinthe creates a complex and balanced flavor profile with a hint of anise.
History
It is believed it is named after the ward system used in hospitals, as it was often served to patients as a last drink before surgery.
